With the Canadian Digital Media Network’s new Canada-Brazil Bi-Lateral Exchange program, tech companies of all sizes can discover both countries’ ecosystems to determine if it’s a right fit got their companies. Ricardo Sodré and Damien Véran will be speaking about Business in Brazil at the upcoming Communitech Breakfast at Bingemans on Dec. 3. To register, check out the events section of www.communitech.ca. Ricardo is the founder of Project-1, an investment vehicle that helps Canadian companies access global markets. Project-1 is leading the bilateral soft-landing program between Canada and Brazil. Ricardo has developed strategic plans for companies such as Banco Itau, Kaiser Beer, Volkswagen, Ford and Embratel. He led the launch of the Peugeot brand in Brazil and was one of those responsible for the launch of Stella Artois in this market. He is an advisor of Ryerson/DMZ and FounderFuel. Damien Véran is the president and co-founder of SlimCut Media, an ad tech company that creates new advertising inventory for Tier 1 publishers located in Toronto. SlimCut’s main product is an in-article video ad unit that is being used by premuim publishers such PostMedia, Toronto Star, TorontoLife or College Humor. Damien has more than 10 years of marketing and digital experience. He began his career in France, his home country, managing the Pampers brand at Procter & Gamble. He then worked at PepsiCo France and Mars Canada where he led the growth of various global brands such as Lay’s and Whiskas. Damien and SlimCut recently returned from Brazil, where they participated in the Brazil-Canada Bi-Lateral Exchange. A technology company in Sao Paulo, pSystem specializes in development and systems integration. As part of the Canadian Digital Media Network’s new Brazil-Canada Bi-Lateral Exchange program, Wallace is visiting the Communitech Hub in Waterloo Region to explore the ecosystem in hopes of expanding into the Canadian market. Since arriving in October, he has participated in many local events like Techtoberfest and Passport to Success, and has travelled to Toronto for meetings with potential Canadian clients. The RED (Research Exploration Development) Lab opened in the Communitech Hub in August, and focuses on exploring and prototyping different technology solutions for Manulife with the goal of providing their customers with intuitive, quick and transparent access to their financial services.
