In a first for the forensic data recovery industry, Waterloo startup JADsoftware Inc. has devised a solution for retrieving cloud-based evidence.

JAD, which resides in the Accelerator Centre, was founded by onetime Waterloo Region police officer Jad Saliba and former Research In Motion executive Adam Belsher. Its products allow forensic investigators to recover information that its creators often don’t realize they’ve left behind, in the form of instant messages, online chats and the like.

Its latest version of Internet Evidence Finder supports data recovery from cloud services, the company announced in a release Tuesday.

Congrats to Jad, Adam and the team.
